Fall 2021 Meeting

The Fall 2021 KCA Meeting will be a free virtual event. Details below:

Copyright in the Archives

November 12, 9:30-1:15

Copyright can be scary! Deciding whether materials are in the public domain is not always straightforward or has an easy answer. Join us virtually on November 12th for a workshop on the types of copyrighted works most frequently found in archival, museum, and library collections, including books, unpublished archival materials, works of art, and scientific data. Participants will learn about tools and resources to help their public domain determinations, as well as ways to communicate those determinations with their users. Watch the Lyrasis webinar on “When Copyright Ends (or Never Was): Understanding the Public Domain” either on your own or during the KCA Zoom screening of the webinar on the morning of the workshop. Then join us for an hour of facilitated discussion about copyright and the public domain. Stay over lunch for an optional informal chat/networking hour.

Online registration ends November 8th. Registration is free.

The KCA Board is currently seeking people willing to share scenarios concerning copyright in the archives at the KCA Fall Meeting on November 12. These will not be formal presentations but rather jumping off points for conversation. Please submit your scenarios by November 8th.
